The First Continental Congress took place at Carpenters' hall in Philadelphia the fall of 1774. It was a gathering of delegates from each colony except Georgia. The colonies decided to arrange this meeting because the British insulted the colonist by closing of the port of Boston.
Lexington and concord
On the night of April in 1775, about 700 British soilders headed towards Concord. Concord was a town about 20 miles west of Boston. King George of Britain sent his soilders there because their was a rumor that, that was where the colonies stored their major military weaapons. The colonies local spies, also known as the Sons of Liberty heard the news the British was coming. On a prepared signal Paul Revere and his two men set off on their horses to sound the alarm the British are coming. By morning the British arrived at the town of Lexington, near Concord. Where the famous "Shot heard 'round the World" took place.

Second continetal congress
The Second Continental Congress took place in Philadelphia in May 1775. The purpose of this gathering was to discuss whether or not the coloniest should make peace with Britain or start a war. At this meeting held 12 colonist. By the end of the meeting they decided to come up with a comprimise. This is when they decided not to break away from Bratain but create the Continental Army. The commander of this new army was our future President George Washington.

Battle of Bunker Hill
The story of The Battle Of Bunker Hill starts of with the British taking a large amount of weapons from the Patriots, on an early morning of May 10th, 1775. This battle was a battle of a 2,400 British army an da 1,600 American Army. After a long, hard, painful battle the Americans finally ran out of ammunition. In response they used watever they could such as rocks, sicks and their empty gun. In the end it was a tragic victory for the British but proved that the colonist can take on the British.

Common sense
What is the Common Sense? The Common Sense was a 47-paged pamphlet that asked Great Britain from freedom or seperation. This pamphalet was published in January of 1776. Common Sense was written anonymously meaning without a name, but we are aware that this pamphalet was written by Thomas Paine. Thomas wrote thta he belived that noy the King and Queen should make the laws but the people and citizens. This was a very different idea because at the time most of the world was ruled by Kings and Queens. Eventally he sold 500,000 copies and began speaking to the common people. His thoughts and ideas are now everywher in American History.
Advantages and disadvantages to both armies
Colonial Army Strengths: Got help from some Europe and fought for a cause they believed in Weaknesses: Small Navy, Untrained and poorly equippeded British Army Strengths: Well-trained, well-equippeded, large and powerful navy Weaknesses: Had to cross the ocean and used mercenaries as soilders
Early Defeates
Their were some early defeates on both sides Patriots and the British. Patriots were trying to expand their land North and into Canada. The Patriots tried to win the battle against Canda but ended up failing. Also the British lost a battle against New York.
Battle of Trenton
The Battle of Trenton was a really important victory for the Patriots. This attack was a victory against the Hessians and was a very smart and planned out sneek attack. It was on a very cold Christmas night in 1776 and the Hessians were fast asleep from their holiday, this was when the Patriots came at them and took capture more thn 900 men. This win proved that the patriots can win and that more colonist should join the army rather than give up.
The turning point of saratoga
The turning point of Saratoga was an attempt of the British to come back from the previous two losses. For the British to successed in their plan eveything had to go perfect. To win and strick back they had to perfectly cut off the Hudson River from the Patriots. Unfortunatly they did not have the correct timing and so it was the greatest win for the Amerian forces yet. Patriot James Thacher said it would be "one of the most brilliant pages of American history."
Battle of yorktown
The Battle of Yorktown was the last major battle of the American Revolution. It all started in early 1781 when the paiots werent doin so well in the war with low supplies and money for soilder. The Battle of Yorktown was a battle were the Patriots with the help with France surronded a British general named Charles Cornwallis and traped him. This is were th seige began.This lasted for weeks until the British finally surrendered.

The Treaty of Paris of 1783 was a peace agreement that took two years to make. This agreement showed that Great Britain recognized the independence of the United States. This treaty set boarders and and showed that the British accepted American rights.
